MUSIC GCSE

Pupils will study music over a period of two years following the AQA syllabus.
The course comprises of three elements:
Analytical studies – in this area pupils study all styles of music from Classical through to jazz and pop. They will have a good knowledge and background as to why music was written and used.
Composition – pupils are required to submit three compositions as specified by the exam board. These may be composed using a music programme on computers, enabling the pupils to play back what they have composed.
Performance – pupils are required to perform two pieces of music on any instrument of their choice. Instrumental lessons will be given each week as part of the course.
