The course comprises of three elements:

  1. Analytical studies – in this area pupils study all styles of music from Classical through to jazz and pop.   They will have a good knowledge and background as to why music was written and used.

  2. Composition – pupils are required to submit three compositions as specified by the exam board.   These may be composed using a music programme on computers, enabling the pupils to play back what they have composed.

  3. Performance – pupils are required to perform two pieces of music on any instrument of their choice.   Instrumental lessons will be given each week as part of the course.
