Our aim is to provide a level of language education second to none for all students of all abilities leading to a sense of achievement and an ever-growing confidence to succeed. Staff in the department are motivated, committed, innovative and linguistically experienced, all having lived in the native country of the language they teach.
All students are taught through a variety of teaching methods adapted to suit and challenge the pupils learning needs and abilities. These include listening, reading and writing exercises, ICT work, visual aids, modelling, and role play which is further enhanced through language games and kinaesthetic activities. We offer residential trips to the countries of the languages studied. In November 2005 we had a very successful trip to Paris and in June 2006 we are visiting Barcelona. Each September we also host European Day of Languages in school, with activities and guest speakers promoting the European Union. Our students are therefore able to not only achieve their full potential but also gain a cultural appreciation of another language and country.
