Curriculum Aim: The school aims to deliver a broad
& balanced curriculum to
promote pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural
development and prepare all pupils for the opportunities,
responsibilities and experiences of life.
National Curriculum Aim: Prepares pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. At B.B.E.C. provision is made for students to learn through work, about work and for work through the delivery of a range of situations and activities
This comprises of three strands:
Learning through work: Opportunities to learn from direct experience of work, work experience, school enterprise activities, vocational contexts in subject learning
Learning about work: Opportunities to develop knowledge and understanding of work and enterprise or example, vocational courses and careers education
Learning for work: Developing employer-valued key skills and career management skills for enterprise and work
Heads of Department and
the WRL Coordinator Miss Duffy have audited schemes of work against
nine learning outcomes and have identified where they offer a
learning experience that meets the QCA outcomes.
Integral to the subject knowledge developed, each student learns skills which
will be necessary in the workplace. Every subject area offers a variety of transferable skills, including learning about Health and Safety issues, leadership and team working challenges, problem solving, target setting, ICT and word processing skills
These are achieved at B.B.E.C. according to pupils individual learning programmes. It can take place through:
