Business & Enterprise
Specialist College Status
The school has been approved as a specialist Business and Enterprise College with effect from the 1st of September, 2004. Congratulations also go to our partners at Batley Girls High School and 6th Form Centre who acquired specialist status as an Art College.
We are grateful for the support that many parents gave us in our final push to acquire the necessary private sponsorship of £50,000. We were successful in raising this money and, as a result, the DfES has added to that money for the next four years, giving us an extra £0.5 million. This follows on from the Full Service School money given.
As a specialist business college the school will still continue to offer the range of activities that it currently does but will be able to offer much more as well. Both sums of money will be spent on developing new Business, Maths and ICT facilities for the school as well as attempting to establish Community Education and 6th form courses within the school.
Business and Enterprise status was redesignated in Sept 2008 having shown the specialism had made a significant contribution. The raising of standards and varieties of opportunities for the pupils being significantly enhanced.
Progress has continued with the specialism embedded across the college and community.
